Glass Art and Glass Sculpture by James Cowley, Glass Artist

Light works with glass to create magic
That inspires, touches one’s feelings and lifts our spirits.
And each day it keeps giving to us.
Stunning handmade glass art
James Cowley creates stunning handmade glass art. This is in the form of Platters and Bowls made from glass components that he creates at the studio. These can be little “Murrini” (tiny circles), through to intricate patterns; from optical illusions through to glass sculptures and fused glass for stained glass windows or glass wall art.
Everything starts with special art glass and goes through design, construction and often three kiln firings before being hand finished.
The result is a piece that will keep reacting with light when you take it home. Glass art and glass items have an endurable beauty which stands out in any home.
Prices range from $95 to $300. Collector pieces up to $2500.

Fused glass art
The colours and the way that light works with glass will enthral you.
Fused Glass art takes a long time to learn.
Most Glass artists will specialise in different areas such as Fused Glass (kilns); torched glass (with a blowtorch); Glass blowing (with a furnace) or stained glass (cold and soldered)
James uses fused and kiln fired glass because of the depth, detail, reflections and ability to shade colours together in platters, bowls, fused glass plates, window pieces, wall art and similar.
We have all seen stained glass (glass windows divided by lead or copper strips) which is a well-developed art form. In the last few decades, a few glass artists globally have used fused glass for such windows or parts of windows. It allows a much greater flow of colours and James is increasingly looking at how to incorporate fused glass into windows, tabletops and similar.
