Textile wall art
Each Textile wall art piece takes weeks and sometimes months to create. This involves design, sourcing or creating the fabrics and colours and then successive trials to see which will complement each other.
Then the construction takes place. Each piece then receives the same careful treatment and quality sewing that Sweden is well known for. Even the back of each piece and the artist’s nameplate is finished to the same high standard so that the finished item brings you years of enjoyment and fits the quality of your lifestyle.
In contrast to woven wall art, Textile wall art is meticuolously stitched together. Annette’s fabric collection of thousands of fabrics sourced from around the world is used, or if a suitable colour is not available, the fabric is hand painted. Fabrics are unlike paints as the artist cannot blend or soften the tone but cut, sew and trial each piece in relation to the next to create the colour and the visual effect. Each new piece will change the overall perception of both colour and form and these have to be adjusted over countless trials until the image is correct.
To ensure that the works stay flat (and do not pucker) and that they hang correctly and are the correct angles and lines, meticulous care is applied from experience built over 3 decades of working with all types of textiles.
